The Empowering Girls in STEM Mongolia program successfully launched today at the Empasoft Institute of Technology in Ulaanbaatar. Out of 310 candidates from 25 secondary schools in the city, 30 outstanding girls from grades 11-12 were selected to join. Over the course of 8 weeks, they will gain foundational skills through hands-on workshops in science and technology, coding, digital safety, and digital product development. They will also visit leading national companies and meet internationally recognized mentors.

We’re excited to kick off the program with hands-on “science and technology experiments” workshops. Special thanks to our instructor, Erdenesuvd Enkhtaivan.

Paper and Fabric Electric Circuits

Using conductive sewing threads, fabric, tape, LEDs, mini motors, coin batteries, magnets, and reed switches, we explored creating electric circuits on paper and fabric materials. Tomorrow, we’ll craft dolls and conduct physics experiments on fabric.

Fabric Dolls with LED Lights

The girls designed fabric dolls of their choice and decorated them with electric circuits using conductive fabric and thread, along with LED lights. Next week, they will code their LED lights using C and complete team-based challenges for fun and learning.

We extend our gratitude to TESO Group, Women in Tech Mongolia, Empasoft Institute of Technology, and UNICEF Mongolia for their support in making this initiative possible.
